CSV Sync Advanced Options

CSV Sync Advanced Options

Overview

If the layout of your CSV does not match the Zilla configuration, advanced options can be used to map account information for an application.

Scope: Admins, App Admins

This article covers the following topics:

Prerequisites

  • A custom application has been added and the CSV containing user and account data has been uploaded to Zilla (refer to this article for more information on this process)

Using Advanced Options

Click Show Advanced Options to display additional selections you can make to align your application information with Zilla mappings.

Seven possible selections will display, and depending on the layout of your CSV you may need to select one or several of them to properly map your account data in Zilla.

Review the advanced options below and make selections based on your CSV.

Individual Permissions Are Separated by Special Character

If individual permissions are separated by a special character such as ; (ex, a user has the permissions user;admin), the permissions information for that user will sync as a single permission unless otherwise specified using advanced options.

  1. Check the box to indicate that individual permissions are separated by a special character.

  2. Type the special character into the text box below to ensure each permission for this CSV is listed separately in Zilla.

  1. The changes will be applied and Permissions can be mapped. Please note, the mapping values may still display with the individual permissions separated by the special character even though the change has been applied.

  1. Use additional advanced options if necessary. Refer to the rest of this article for additional information on utilizing the other options.

  2. To see a preview of the mappings, click Confirm in the lower right corner of the page. Follow the rest of the instruction in this article to preview and finish importing the data for the sync.

Permissions Are Listed in Multiple Columns

If permissions are listed in more than one column (ex. the CSV has both a Permissions and Roles column that both contain permissions information), additional permissions columns need to be added to accurately capture all permission information when mapping fields in Zilla.

  1. Check the box to indicate that permissions are listed in more than one column.

  2. Type the number of additional columns needed in the text box below and click Add. In this example, there were two columns in the CSV so only one additional column was added in Zilla.

In this example, multiple permissions were separated by ,, so it was also necessary to indicate that permissions were separated by a special character. Please refer to the section above for more information on this process.

  1. The specified number of additional columns will be added and each permission column can be mapped.

  1. Use additional advanced options if necessary. Refer to the rest of this article for additional information on utilizing the other options.

  2. To see a preview of the mappings, click Confirm in the lower right corner of the page. Follow the rest of the instruction in this article to preview and finish importing the data for the sync.

Permission Name(s) are in the Column Header(s)

Any time a CSV has permission names in the column headers (ex. the CSV has column headers called Admin and Standard user and the values Yes/No indicate whether an account has that permission), additional columns for the permission name headers need to be added to accurately capture all permission information when mapping fields in Zilla.

  1. Check the box to indicate that permission names are listed in column headers.

  2. Type the number of additional columns needed in the text box below and click Add. In this example, there were two permissions in the CSV so two permissions in headers columns were added.

  3. If the value indicating a permission is given to an account is not yes, true, enabled, or active, type the value(s) that indicate that the account has the permission in the text box below.

Note, in this example, the active account status was indicated by a Yes/No value instead of Active/Inactive, so it was also necessary to indicate that the active account status needed to be mapped from the CSV. Please refer to the section below for more information on this process.

  1. The specified number of additional columns will be added as Permission (in Column Header) and each column can be mapped. Note, when permission names are in column headers, the original Permissions column will remain blank.

  1. Use additional advanced options if necessary. Refer to the rest of this article for additional information on utilizing the other options.

  2. To see a preview of the mappings, click Confirm in the lower right corner of the page. Follow the rest of the instruction in this article to preview and finish importing the data for the sync.

Active Account Status Needs to Be Mapped from CSV

When the column indicating whether an account is active or not is populated by values that are not Active/Inactive (ex. the values in the active account column of the CSV are Yes/No), the values in Zilla indicating an active account need to be mapped in order to accurately capture account information.

  1. Check the box to indicate that the active account status needs to be mapped from the CSV.

  2. Type the value that signifies an active account in the text box below. All other values will signify an inactive account.

  1. The Account Status field can now be mapped.

  1. Use additional advanced options if necessary. Refer to the rest of this article for additional information on utilizing the other options.

  2. To see a preview of the mappings, click Confirm in the lower right corner of the page. Continuing with the Review Permissions Upload step, follow the rest of the instructions in this article to preview and finish importing the data for the sync.

Previously Mapped Accounts Are Missing in the CSV

This option is selected by default, meaning that if any accounts that were previously synced are not in the new CSV, those accounts will be marked as deleted.

  1. If desired, uncheck the box to ensure the status of accounts that are missing in the CSV remain unchanged.

  2. Use any additional advanced options if necessary. Refer to the rest of this article for additional information on utilizing the other options.

  3. To see a preview of the mappings, click Confirm in the lower right corner of the page. Continuing with the Review Permissions Upload step, follow the rest of the instructions in this article to preview and finish importing the data for the sync.

CSV Contains Resources

If a CSV contains resources including but not limited to repositories, groups, or folders that have been created or are available in the application (ex. the CSV contains a resource section with the resources repo-1 and repo-2), a Resources column must be added to accurately capture account information.

  1. Check the box to indicate that the CSV contains resources.

  2. An additional checkbox will appear below and is selected by default. If any resources that were previously synced are not in the new CSV, those resources will be marked as deleted.

  3. If desired, uncheck the box to ensure the status of resources that are missing in the CSV remain unchanged.

  1. The Resources field can now be mapped.

CSV Contains Groups and Group Memberships

If a CSV contains group and group membership information (ex. the CSV lists the group names Admins Group, Service Group, and Eng Services as well as group membership for each account), an Account Group and an Account Type column must be added to accurately capture account information.

  1. Check the box to indicate that the CSV contains groups and memberships.

In this example, multiple permissions were separated by ;, so it was also necessary to indicate that permissions were separated by a special character. Please refer to the Individual Permissions are Separated by a Special Character section above for more information on this process.

  1. The Account Group and Account Type fields can now be mapped.
